Paints do undergo rigorous climatic conditions, strong winds, sun damage, hailstorms and other extremes. Therefore, damage to paints is justified after a period of certain exposure. The cause that paint peels off from the hardboard siding is the moisture that goes under the painted surface. Inadequate surface preparation can also be the reason for easy peeling of paint.

This heat will temper the panels so that it becomes resistant to moisture. Hardboard is smooth and uniform without the wood grain which is a cause of early cracking of normal wood sidings. Hardwood can undergo drilling, painting and sawing as normal wood does.

Now let’s begin the procedure for repairing the paint. In order to fix the paint you need to repaint the whole house so that it doesn’t lose its uniformity when repainted. To peel off the whole painted and prepare surface of repainting you can scrap or sand it or use pressure washing. Whatever procedure be adopted, take care not to chisel the hardboard siding.

Remember that paint and primer will not form a strong adherence if any residual material is left behind. Let the hardboard siding dry thoroughly.

Prime the siding with a best quality primer. You should use acrylic latex for the primer and topcoats of paint. To get best results, carefully read the manufacturers instruction. Try if paint gun is available as spraying saves a lot of time than painting the sidings. For best results, always do two coats.

You should always apply paint and never leave the siding unpainted as paint is more durable than the primer alone. If only primer is applied, then the looks will become worse and you will repeat the cleaning again.

Always follow the manufacturer’s instruction when applying paint and use acrylic latex house paint of good quality. You can again use a spray gun or do it through paintbrush. Former will do the painting smoothly and uniformly than paint brush. Do not leave any heavy spots on the wall. No area should be left bared from the paint.
