From the earliest times it was considered that wood well influences health and mood of the person. There is a positive energy coming from wood which creates perfect conditions for human habitation. Besides the aesthetic features the wood floors also possess a number of other advantages. For example, wood has small weight and fine heat insulation properties. Such floor is practical, strong and durable.

The wood floor possesses property of hygroscopicity, i.e. it can absorb and discharge moisture, naturally supporting a fixed level of moisture in rooms that is very important for health.

Hygroscopicity can be referred to disadvantages of wood floors because it causes wood deformation. It occurs because of increasing or decreasing of moisture and temperature indoors. Thus the wood can crack and warp. So it’s necessary to pay attention to quality or sort of wood during the selecting of wood floor. Woods containing natural oils such as: oak, teak, merbau are most independent against temperature and moisture differences. Light woods and some fruit trees (cherry, sweet cherry and pear-tree) are more uncertain. If you prefer a wood floor from such wood it’s necessary to watch closely over an air humidity (the tolerance level is 40-50%) indoors where floor laying is arranged and not to take a great interest in heaters.

It’s known that wood easily burns. To prevent the cases of fire a wood is impregnated with special solutions.

The wood floor is an embodiment of nobleness and stability. Such floor undoubtedly decorates an interior of a house and underlines the status of owners.

To increase a service life of your wood floor you should follow the following advices:

  • 1. Try to save your floor from temperature differences and moisture. Moisture in rooms should be in limits of 45-60%. Domestic humidifiers can be useful.
  • 2. Such floor does not like household chemicals and a considerable quantity of the water spilt on it. Try to remove both first and second as quickly as possible.
  • 3. Sand scratches a surface. Therefore such floor more often than usual should be wiped with wet but well pressed rag.
  • 4. Wood coverings don’t like spike heel and thin legs of capboards, so to say, are afraid of a point loading.

And the last that should be added to this article is that it’s necessary always and in all cases to trust only professionals. This rule should be followed during selecting and laying of a wood floor. Only professional can give a warranty for the product for some years.
